The commercial real estate reporter will join our newsroom to cover one of the most dynamic markets in the country at an inflection point in its history. Working as one half of a team of two, we seek to maintain and further build our reputation as the go-to news source for stories about the deals, the market and the people behind them — not just in San Francisco, but in Oakland, the Tri-Valley and the Peninsula.
The reporter must be competitive, nimble and driven to break news regularly. They are expected to provide forward-looking business intelligence to our audience of successful, savvy readers. This entails building and working source networks and digging up news before it's announced or readily available.
The ideal candidate will blend traditional journalism skills - source building, sharp news judgment, interviewing prowess, scoop-driven reporting and strong writing skills - with online and social media know-how. Reporters in our newsroom don't just turn in copy, they engage our audience on a variety of platforms. They build and maintain source relationships that allow them to be first with the news, but sometimes to report stories
sources don't want brought to light without burning that bridge.
