The Stanwood Camano News is looking for a dynamic leader to guide our weekly newspaper and 24/7 website, SCnews.com. This position will require solid news judgment, the ability to manage, teach and elevate reporters and the flexibility to thrive in a changing news environment. A multitalented editor will also help grow and retain our digital subscriber base requires close attention to our websites, social media, newsletters and other platforms modern readers use to consume news. We expect the Stanwood Camano News to produce high-impact enterprise, investigative and solutions journalism as well as basic information that keeps the community informed. The successful candidate will need to live in the area and become an important part of Stanwood, Camano Island and the immediate surrounding areas to help our readers get local content that enriches their lives. We want stories about our neighbors, businesses, governments and local trends. We strive to keep readers engaged, and we need an editor who can analyze audience data to evolve news coverage and help meet the needs of our print and digital audiences. Qualifications include reporting, photography, editing, website operations and personnel management. Desired skills include guiding reporters to produce their best work, the ability to change workflows for efficiency, editing for balance, story structure, grammar and style, delivering criticism constructively, collaborating with other editors and conceptualizing and developing enterprise stories. This position, which includes both editorial and general manager skills, is supervised by both Skagit Publishing's publisher and the company's director of content.
