Agenda, a Financial Times Specialist publication for directors on corporate boards, is seeking an associate editor to join its team of talented and motivated journalists.
The ideal candidate will belong to a team of six skilled journalists and contribute to the publication’s high standards of editorial excellence. We seek team players who thrive in a work environment that offers collegiality and support. Agenda is on a growth track, and we seek candidates who are willing to adapt and learn as we grow.
This position is based in the offices of the Financial Times, near the Tribeca neighborhood of New York City.
Duties
You will be expected to develop an in-depth knowledge of corporate governance and the workings of boards of directors. Candidates should be comfortable digging through annual reports, proxy forms and other SEC filings and working with numbers and data. Strong sourcing skills are also important.
You will be expected to produce four to six well-reported stories each month for Agenda's twice-weekly publication, as well as occasional breaking news items, briefs or larger team projects, such as special reports.
We tell stories using various formats, including video and data-driven graphics. You will play a role in those and in shaping webcasts from time-to-time. There are opportunities to travel to conferences.
We value entrepreneurialism, and there are opportunities to pitch new features or other product enhancements, working in collaboration with the managing editor.
We work as a team. As associate editor, you will offer guidance to reporters on reporting, writing, sourcing and story generation and edit pieces with an eye to our house style.
