Alaska Public Media is looking for a State Government Reporter to cover politics in Juneau and statewide issues. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, multi-platform journalist who will thrive in a fast-paced reporting environment during a pivotal moment for Alaska.
Our ideal candidate has a strong record of writing with accuracy on tight deadlines and has the ability to move quickly between topics. You’ll cover legislative meetings and budgets, but also dive beyond the agendas to help our readers and listeners better understand their state government and how lawmakers’ decisions are impacting Alaskans.
This position will be based at least part time in Juneau, during the legislative session.
The State Government Reporter will join the collaborative and award-winning news team at Alaska Public Media, Anchorage’s NPR and PBS station. We provide daily, statewide news programming to 26 partner stations across Alaska and oversee the collaborative statewide news network. The position will work closely with our partner stations to decide which stories to prioritize. Engagement work will also be an important element of this job.
