You will join our global network of over 500 dedicated market analysts to connect deeply with the markets they cover, delivering prices, expert market analysis and information not available elsewhere. We pride ourselves on analysing how and why market developments matter to our high-level audience, which comprises Fortune 500 companies, national oil and energy companies, multinationals, finance institutions, trading companies, and governments.
In this role, you will work within a fast-paced team and help cover the Asia Bunker Fuel and Marine Fuels markets. You will be writing engaging market intelligence and analysing spot prices that are timely, accurate, objective, and meaningful for our clients. This includes maintaining a strong network of contacts within the industries to source original, relevant and exclusive content. You will be personable and be able to quickly become a subject matter expert and lead coverage within the designated product portfolio. You will enjoy collaborative work with colleagues from various backgrounds, many located in Argus’ other offices around the globe. There are opportunities to travel, attend and present at industry conferences and lead webinar sessions.

Experience in pricing and commodities markets is preferred, but not essential. Intelligence, curiosity, writing ability and a genuine desire to become a market export are the primary qualities we look for in a diverse pool of candidates. The compensation will be commensurate based on the individual’s background.
This position provides real-time coverage of the related industry, including but not limited to making pricing assessments, writing market analysis and breaking news, and/or covering events such as press conferences and industry gatherings. The reporter also collaborates with colleagues on other teams and in other regions. Senior reporters are expected to initiate and write real-time news coverage and both daily and weekly analyses for the respective beat for both online and print audiences, and where appropriate provide mentoring to news reporters.
Specific Responsibilities:
Collect market prices and make assessments, adhering to rigorous compliance standards.
Provide real-time, breaking news coverage for an online news service.
Develop own coverage ideas, propose areas of coverage or specific lines of news inquiry.
Write in-depth analysis and feature stories for daily and weekly publications and blog postings.
Produce multiple stories on any given day, adding all needed context and background.
Synthesize complex market and industry information quickly.
Contribute to presentations as directed by management.
Develop and maintain rapport with key contacts and liaise regularly with industry stakeholders.
Develop new contacts to aid with newsgathering and general market intelligence.
Maintain existing databases and build new databases as needed, to enhance coverage.
Adhere to strict deadlines.
Provide subject-matter expertise to other Argus departments.
Work on special projects as needed.
