Location: Garden City, NY

Hours: Standard Hours Monday - Friday

Salary: $50,000- $60,000

As our Associate Editor, you will:

Support Acquisitions Editor(s) in all phases of book development, from concepting to completion: primarily Children’s/Adult Coloring & Activity titles; Adult Trade as necessary
Write and edit copy, including but not limited to jacket copy, front matter, and catalog copy
Work independently and accurately to meet the deadlines and deliverables of the publishing schedule
Research and identify marketplace trends and undertake competitive analysis
Propose new book ideas based on data, trends, and opportunities
Innovate new product types, both single title and series
Collaborate cross-departmentally with Managing Editorial, Design, Production and Sales on books and book content
Partner with Sales and Marketing to provide and/or develop support material support materials and product packaging
Scout and recruit new authors and illustrators as necessary

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field OR 1 - 3 years of relevant experience
Knowledge of children’s books, adult books, and publishing landscape
Strong sense of contemporary culture, trends, and potential niches
Ability to analyze market data and sales trends
Ability to meet deadlines, problem-solve, and coordinate with other department
Demonstrated and constructive approach to meeting and resolving challenges
Strong organizational and computer skills, including Google Suite, MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, databases, and content management systems
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and pivot
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
