KYW Newsradio is looking for a part-time general assignment reporter for broadcast and digital, who can excel in on-the-ground reporting in Philadelphia.
Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 3+ years experience reporting for a news organization, be able to work in a hybrid digital/broadcast environment, and have excellent news judgment.
Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
Producing and recording news segments for KYW Newsradio
Gathering, writing, recording, editing and delivering news content inclusive of providing live coverage when breaking news occurs
Maintaining general knowledge of issues, policies, and newsmakers in the broadcasting area
Writing scripts and ad-libbing material for stories.
Development and research of potential news stories.
Protecting the station’s FCC license.
Other duties as required by management.
Flexibility with working nights and weekends
Qualifications
More About You:
Required & Preferred
At least three years of reporting experience for a news organization
Experience in editing and packaging news sound and interviews
Understanding and experience reporting as a multimedia journalist
Experience in a busy and fast-paced, 24/7 newsroom
Comfort with breaking news and deadline pressure
Proactivity and self-starting attitude a must
Ability to be nimble and pivot with the ebb and flow of the news cycle
Excellent communication skills
Excellent interview skills
Excellent news judgment
Knowledge of the broadcast area of greater Philadelphia and station demographics a plus
4-year degree in journalism, broadcasting or an adjacent field preferred
