About the Role
The ABC Northern Tasmania team covers news, rural and features stories and presents local Breakfast, Drive and rural radio programs. This Digital/Social Media Producer position will require the capacity to create engaging, digital first content for ABC News digital and social media platforms. They’ll be occasional weekend work and early starts to ensure that we are setting a local news agenda, 7-days a week.
The position can be based in either Burnie or Launceston. The Burnie office sits on the doorstep of epic wilderness and is the gateway to the far north-west and west coasts, while Launceston, Tasmania’s second largest city, is a designated UNESCO city of gastronomy, and one of the country’s oldest settlements with a striking cityscape of architectural styles.
Under general direction of the Editor, and in collaboration with colleagues, you will:
Produce and distribute high quality Northern Tasmanian content for the ABC News website and social accounts that aligns with the Audience-First strategy.
Attend daily editorial meetings, providing data/insights from social media to help ensure content commissioning is aligned with relevant content and platform strategies.
Develop and maintain a strong awareness of social media and emerging trends in digital.
About You
You're an experienced Digital/Social Media Producer with good instincts, to have a focus on digital and multi-platform storytelling and in particular the issues that affect the interest of the diverse local audience. You will have initiative, drive and be a strong team player.
