Reporter, Rural

We are looking for a dynamic Rural Reporter with experience across the creation of content for radio, TV and online.

You are creative, highly organised and able to find great rural stories from our community to share for radio, digital, TV and social media and will love coming to work and connecting with our diverse audience across the region.

You will be able to demonstrate that you have;

Accomplished editorial skills
A strong understanding of the issues facing the agricultural and primary industries and how they affect the community.
A creative approach to story construction and delivery
Experience in live presentation and broadcast
A passion and curiosity to source and create authentic stories which represent the broad diversity of the Australian community

The ability to travel to remote locations when required.

About the Role

North-west Queensland is the heart of Queensland's remote outback. These days it's famous for mining, fossils and cattle production. North West Queensland's site delivers local news, sport and weather as well as special feature stories that explore the events, places and people that make each region unique.

ABC Mt Isa is looking for a motivated, multi-skilled Rural Reporter to be based in Mt Isa.

Reporting to the Editor, ABC North West QLD, you will be responsible for;

Creating engaging rural and primary industry news and features across multiple platforms for a diverse local and national audience.
Preparing and presenting stories for the Rural Report and Country Hour, plus other key programs including ABC’s 7pm bulletin and News Channel.
Contributing new ideas to increase audience reach and engagement.
