Seeking Community Reporter
The Bangor Daily News is seeking a driven community news reporter with strong digital skills to cover the St. John Valley in northern Maine. This full-time position requires daily stories, an eagerness to build contacts in the community and an ability to cover a wide range of news, including local government, business, education, crime/courts, breaking news, state/national topics affecting area residents and special features. Stories produced in this beat appear on -- our community news site serving that region -- the weekly St. John Valley Times newspaper and the Bangor Daily News.

Applicants should demonstrate sound editorial judgment and a mastery of grammar, know how to develop interesting stories, file on deadline and have strong storytelling abilities. Knowledge of digital processes that help our audience connect online, including the creation of photos, videos and use of social media are desirable.

We serve readers throughout Maine with a staff of journalists that stretches from the border of Canada to the boundaries of the Granite State. We blanket Maine’s political, social, cultural and economic trends, drive our state’s public conversation, and hold our officials accountable. We are committed to informing our community, and we see this role as key to fulfilling that commitment.
