Barron's is seeking an investigative reporter who can produce ground-breaking stories that hold accountable executives, industry officials, regulators and others in the business world. This person should have experience writing quick-turn accountability stories off the news and developing original enterprise that offer exclusive revelations. For 100 years, Barron's has been a leader in providing smart, impactful financial analysis and has long had a history of breaking major news stories. Barron's raised questions about Bernie Madoff more than seven years before the enormous Ponzi scheme came to light, and showed how vulnerable the mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were years before their government takeover in the financial crisis. Candidates should have a working knowledge of finance and have demonstrated an ability to develop sources, use records and data, break news, and write with skill and insight. We are also looking for a strong ability to generate ideas and a familiarity with digital storytelling techniques.
