Barron's is seeking an investigative reporter who can produce ground-breaking stories that hold accountable executives, industry officials, regulators and others in the business world. This person should have experience writing quick-turn accountability stories that shine a light on events in the news and developing original enterprise that offer exclusive revelations about the markets, an industry or a company. For 100 years, Barron's has been a leader in providing smart, impactful financial analysis and has a history of breaking major news stories. Barron's raised questions about Bernie Madoff more than seven years before the enormous Ponzi scheme came to light, and it showed how vulnerable the mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were years before their government takeover in the financial crisis. Candidates should have a working knowledge of finance and have demonstrated an ability to develop sources, use records and data, break news, and write with skill and insight. We are also looking for someone with a strong ability to generate ideas and a familiarity with storytelling techniques, both for print and digital.
