BBC Local is creating 11 investigative regional reporting teams across the country. The journalists will be responsible for originating and working on investigations and high impact stories delivering content for online, digital, TV and audio services.
The teams will collaborate on commissions with colleagues across BBC Local and the wider BBC as appropriate. They are designed to be self-supporting, shooting and editing their own material but will draw on the wider newsroom operation when required.
These roles are in addition to the central teams, who will produce more than 20 longform stories a year for our key platforms. Many of these stories will be collaborations between both regional and central teams.
Guided by the principles of public interest journalism, investigations will shine a light on key issues for our communities and reveal the truth about the stories that matter to our audience.

Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
You will provide strong and creative leadership for the BBC Local Daily Investigations team and ensure all material are of the highest editorial quality.
You will foster and develop a collaborative culture and display excellent leadership qualities; supporting teams, setting clear journalistic goals and being fully responsible for the day-to-day running of the team, including providing direction and feedback.
You will visually drive the content, both in terms of style and structure, encouraging innovation but always working within BBC editorial guidelines with responsibility for the final sign off of programmes and adherence to compliance/legal requirements.

We are looking for someone with strong leadership skills with experience of developing new ways of working and delivering change. With strong journalistic and production skills, you will have the proven ability to make major decisions and communicate these with authority even when under pressure.

You will have a passion for reaching new audiences through compelling online storytelling and will have a detailed understanding of the current techniques and technology for high impact video. You will have the ability to use innovative technologies to create opportunities to enhance output and improve working practices with sound editorial awareness and judgment following BBC editorial policy.
