The Senior Journalist will be editorially responsible for the daily publication of BBC.com/travel, in conjunction with and supervised by the Travel Editor. They will be a key player in producing an ongoing calendar of travel content that fits within the editorial vision of the site and grows BBC.com’s international audience. The position will be based in New York and is a contract-based, full-time position from January to August 2022. This job requires the candidate to wear many hats, both creative and technical. The candidate should have an aptitude for innovation, experimentation and organization, and must be a problem-solver, fast learner, efficient worker, creative thinker and self-starter. In addition to being analytical and detail-oriented, they must approach challenges with positivity, proactive-thinking and a sense of humor. An ability to commission from a global perspective is a must. A background in storytelling, photography, as well as broadcast/TV/video editing, or news is a plus. The Senior Journalist should have a strong, international stable of dependable and talented authors and photographers, and ideally be abreast of travel trends and have a solid grasp of the competitive travel landscape. Digital experience is required, including CMS, Photoshop, analytics and basic HTML knowledge.
