The Belgrade News seeks an enterprising reporter to join our weekly community newspaper, which was named best Montana weekly last year by the Montana Newspaper Association. The role serves as the primary reporter covering the fast-growing community of Belgrade, just a few minutes west of Bozeman in the heart of southwest Montana's Gallatin Valley. This reporter is responsible for covering city government, the local school system and, of course, the unique characters that make up the heart of this small town.
The area is one of the fastest growing in the country and offers world-class recreation opportunities. Yellowstone National Park is less than two hours away. Summer offers spectacular hiking, access to multiple renowned trout streams and a growing network of bike trails. In winter, Bridger offers technical steeps north of town, while Big Sky offers big mountain riding an hour to the south.
Applicants should have a strong grasp of AP Style, a four-year degree in journalism or a related field and a valid driver's license, reliable transportation and proof of insurance. Some newsroom and photography experience is preferred but recent college graduates are encouraged to apply.
