Dotdash Meredith is seeking a full-time Social Media Editor to help grow the social media footprint of the iconic, 100-year-old brand, Better Homes & Gardens.
We are looking for a smart, savvy, and hard-working social media editor with a passion for all things home, gardening, and food, who is eager to help increase our following and engagement across platforms and is comfortable on camera. They will be responsible for executing the social media strategy across all our social platforms, including Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, Facebook, and Twitter (as well as any that emerge in the future). This person will have extensive social media experience, with their finger on the pulse of any new social trends and a passion for experimenting with new audiences and platforms. The right candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of the BHG aesthetic and brand. They will also be able to formulate and execute a strategic plan for growing our reach across various platforms through smart content creation and curation, whether that means collaborating with influencers and industry experts, creating compelling Instagram Stories or launching original franchises. They will operate as part of the editorial team, working closely with the Associate Social Media Editor.

50% Plan and execute BHG’s social media strategy on all social platforms, especially Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, and Facebook.
25% Create (including film for IG and TT), commission, and syndicate editorial content for social media.
10% Watch, share, and respond to traffic and engagement metrics from social platforms.
10% Devise and execute on social media content for sponsored campaigns.
5% Explore new social media trends and platforms, ideate on new audience potential and traffic

Enforce BHG’s social point of view, focusing on key platforms: Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Facebook, and Twitter
Create compelling original content (shortform video) for TikTok and Instagram to help expand the reach of the brand and establish the brand as an active, engaged community
Write and curate compelling, social-friendly content / captions across platforms, analyzing trends and audience engagement metrics to help drive strategy for these platforms.
Mine BHG’s extensive site library to find articles with great social promotion potential and adapt editorial content for social media audiences
Provide feedback on social-first graphic treatments to ensure they meet platform needs
Maintain a shared social calendar
Partner with our editors to adapt to ever-changing social media trends and usage patterns
Extrapolate learnings from social media data and report on analytics
Build relationships with influencers and accounts with both large and small followings; facilitate content swaps, takeovers, and other promotional efforts
Work with Sales team on approving and executing social components
Liaison with internal teams such as Marketing, Licensing, Commerce, and Audio
Ideate, create, and maintain branded social franchises
III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
Education:
Degree in Marketing, Journalism, or Communications a plus
Experience:
3 - 5 years experience as a social media professional / community manager for a major home, food, DIY, or lifestyle media property
Expertise or interest in home, garden, and food
Expert-level proficiency with curation of content on social networks such as TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, Flipboard and any emerging social platforms
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be comfortable on camera in order to film / edit shortform social video
Exceptional writing, editing, and strong organizational skills
Computer proficiency, including familiarity with CMS and publishing programs, editing, email, Google Docs, and Slack or the like, is essential
Experience with social media schedulers and analytics tools a plus (e.g. Buffer, Sprout Social, Dash Hudson, Tailwind etc)
Comfort reporting on and analyzing data / trends
% Travel Required (Approximate): ~1x year between DSM <> NY offices

Pay Range
Salary: $56,000 - $80,000
