News Reporter

New Posted 9 August 2023 | Billings, Montana | Billings Gazette

The Billings Gazette is Montana’s largest newspaper in the state’s largest metro area, and we’re expanding the size of our newsroom. Our readership is growing and for the seventh time in eight years we’ve been named the best newspaper in Montana.

We’re looking for a reporter to cover cops and courts, and spot news. Our newsroom is a mix of smart young reporters and veterans, and is part of a network of four other Montana newspapers and a state capitol bureau. The newsrooms share planning and resources and daily copy, which allows reporters more time to work on bigger, deeper pieces and also be able to publish breaking news quickly.

We are offering more than a good job with a good paper. Billings is a growing city in a beautiful part of the country. We have a vibrant, walkable downtown with fine dining, performing arts centers, live music venues, art galleries, and more than our share of craft brew pubs. And, if getting out of the house is your passion, we also have mountains, rivers, dog parks, fly fishing, hunting, cycling, hiking, skiing and more.

This is a full-time guild position with a minimum wage of $42K, and more with experience. The ability to produce timely reports in today’s instant digital news environment is a must. A bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field and a multi-media journalism is preferred. New graduates are welcome to apply.
