The Bismarck Tribune, the newspaper in the capital city of North Dakota, is seeking a full-time reporter to cover local government, education and business in Bismarck and neighboring Mandan, a metro area of about 135,000 people.
The successful candidate will also cover a variety of general assignment stories and contribute to weekend centerpieces and special projects. The Tribune is looking for someone who will find the story behind the story; someone who doesn’t wait for a press conference to get the news. We’re looking for a reporter who will dig deeper than meeting coverage and develop sources to stay ahead of developing stories.
We’d prefer someone with at least two years of reporting experience but will consider recent college graduates with strong internships. The newsroom emphasizes professional development opportunities to help reporters grow.
Bismarck and Mandan are along the Missouri River with miles of trails for outdoor activities, along with a growing food and culture scene. The region also offers prime hunting and fishing opportunities. Bismarck-Mandan is a fun place to live and work, with the amenities of a big city without the traffic and high cost of living.
