Nothing is more essential to Bloomberg clients than the timely delivery of macroeconomic data. From Fed rate decisions and inflation to unemployment and GDP, key economic indicators are the drivers of global markets, and the foundation of Bloomberg's news coverage.

We're seeking a versatile candidate to serve as Managing Editor of our global Eco Data news team. This person will be responsible for covering the release of major economic indicators across the globe by sending headlines and generating short stories, tables and analysis. The right candidate will have a proven track record for innovation in real-time data, a passion for fast news coverage across borders, and the ability to manage a global team in multiple time zones.
WE’LL TRUST YOU TO:

Leverage new and existing technology to disseminate major economic data
Develop solutions to improve the existing workflow for processing and editing data-focused stories
Research and implement different ways of generating insight from both public and internal data to supply the newsroom with smarter, faster and more accurate material
Identify gaps in coverage and help shape ongoing efforts in every region around the world
Work collaboratively with other Bloomberg News, global data, core engineering and government relations teams
Laisse with various government agencies, including the Fed, Labor and Commerce
Edit short-form stories that cuts through jargon and makes complex topics understandable to a broad business audience.

YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE:

Background in Economics, Journalism or Finance
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a working knowledge of Excel VBA or Python
Fluency in spoken and written English
A desire to learn and to constructively question the status quo
Experience in writing/editing short headlines and fast news stories
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced news environment
