Bloomberg Law is seeking an energetic and enterprising reporter to cover antitrust, with a focus on federal enforcement, litigation, and agency news. Both the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice are taking an increasingly active stance to police companies to promote competition and regulate their activities. The reporter would cover these efforts and look for opportunities to break news on significant cases and agency actions, profile the judges and others behind the scenes, and spot trends in legal thinking and regulation that serve our legal audience and beyond.
What you will do:
Demonstrated ability to report and write news stories and features with minimal editing under deadline.
Working knowledge of journalism principles and techniques.
Demonstrated ability to develop and cover a beat, including developing sources, developing story ideas, and conducting interviews.
Knowledge of federal and state legislative, regulatory, and judicial processes.
Ability to attend outside meetings, hearings, news events, etc., and to report on them clearly and accurately for deadline.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Ability to use Bloomberg Industry Group publishing tools and other technology effectively with Bloomberg Industry Group training.
Excellent proofreading skills.
You need to have:
Bachelor’s degree with coursework in English or journalism preferred.
3 - 5 years’ experience in journalism, including at least one year reporting on subject areas covered by assigned publications.
