Washington Cybersecurity Reporter
Bloomberg News is one of the biggest and most influential news organizations in the world. Our award-winning Global Cybersecurity Team covers data breaches and cyberattacks that exploit weaknesses at companies, organizations, government agencies and digital platforms, as well as the people, groups and nation-states responsible for them. We explore the why behind incursions, seeking to explain motivations of attackers, how victims respond and the weaknesses that leave all of us vulnerable. Our team also covers digital disinformation and the profound, deepening privacy risks posed by our digital economy. You are a talented, aggressive and creative reporter eager to cover cybersecurity in Washington, a challenging and busy position with vast potential and opportunity. The job involves covering breaking news such as major hacks on corporations and the U.S. government, government initiatives to address hacking and disinformation and hearings and events related to the beat. A key focus of the job is developing and cultivating sources – in the White House, Congress, CISA, NSA and elsewhere – to produce scoops on the beat, in addition to deeply reported enterprise and investigative stories. You are experienced, versatile, prolific and able to write clean stories quickly on deadline. You are also thick skinned, since would-be sources are reluctant to discuss sensitive matters related to cyber-security. The job will be located in Washington, but the reporter may have opportunities to travel in the U.S. and abroad.
