This is advanced professional work recording and preparing minutes for various county boards and committees. Employees in this class record notes of proceedings on laptop computers using digital audio recording equipment and software, and interpret and summarize verbatim transcripts, and condense them into minute form.
Opportunity for some remote work after training is completed. The position is generally Monday - Friday, however, some meetings are held outside of normal business hours.

Essential Job Functions
Prepare accurate verbatim transcripts
Compose accurate and concise minutes by utilizing transcripts, audio recordings, and backup materials
Ensure pertinent data is included in minutes and that information is accurately reflected as a matter of public record
Position Specific Requirements
Experience - secretarial or advanced clerical experience.
4 years of experience as described above; or
Associate degree and at least 2 years of experience as described above; or
Bachelor’s or higher-level degree and some experience as described above.
Additional Requirements
Ability to accurately type at 55 words per minute
Ability to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations
Must be able to travel to frequent meetings held in a variety of locations across the County
Highly Desirable
Possess skills and abilities to attend and record, using a digital audio recording system, meetings of various boards and committees for the purpose of preparing transcripts and minutes
Possess skills to prepare follow-up agendas summarizing actions taken by the Board of County Commissioners

Physical/Mental Demands
This is light work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (wireless kit), and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. The amount of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.
