Local News Copy Editor

The Bristol Herald Courier has an opening for a copy editor to join our desk in Bristol, Va. The ideal candidate should excel in editing local stories, wire copy and photo cut lines; writing headlines; planning news pages on deadline; and proofing pages. The candidate must also be able to communicate clearly and concisely with page designers at the Lee Enterprises Design Center to ensure efficient, high-quality production of pages. InDesign experience is not required, but you should have an eye for good design. Daily newspaper experience is preferred, but entry-level candidates with college experience will be considered.

You must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays. Bristol is located in the beautiful foothills of the Southwest Virginia. It's a town with a thriving downtown and arts scene, a major racetrack, and is one of the best places anywhere to get outdoors for running, hiking, biking, and canoeing.
