Business Reporter

The Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer is seeking an experienced government/business reporter with an appetite for hard news. The person should be able to cover government meetings to business developments, and possess a “watch dog” mentality and not be afraid to ask hard questions. We’re seeking someone with a nose for news, the ability to cultivate sources from all walks of life and a writing touch that is part hammer and part silk. We’re looking for someone with at least three years of journalism experience, with newspapers being the preferred medium. This candidate should be able to look beyond the surface of stories while being creative, relentless and passionate about telling our community’s stories in an impactful way. A four-year degree in journalism is preferred, but not necessary with comparable experience. The successful candidate will have excellent writing and accurate reporting skills, a passion for local and regional journalism and the ability to meet deadlines. An excellent driving record is also a must.
