Senior Visual Editor

BuzzFeed News, a Pulitzer prize-winning digital news organization, is looking for a senior visual editor with 6 – 10 years of experience who’s interested in working at a fast-paced newsroom. BuzzFeed News delivers the biggest news, the latest in entertainment, and unmissable writing about life, culture, and the internet to the next generation of readers. Our coverage has the range: On the same day we can break down the latest influencer or celebrity drama while also investigating the abuses of some of the most powerful people, companies, and governments. Under the guidance of the Design Director, who is based in New York, the senior visual editor will create, commission, and research art for a variety of story types. Working with the highly collaborative art desk, as well as editors and reporters across the newsroom, you will conceptualize visually ambitious and unique solutions for a variety of challenges. Additionally, the visual editor will help manage and develop BuzzFeed News’ visual language, from brand standards to story formats. Successful candidates will have a remarkable portfolio, and demonstrate solid news judgment, and an ability to manage multiple projects and timelines. Previous editorial/news experience is preferred. The position is based in New York, but remote locations will be considered.
