Wick Communications is seeking a dynamic managing editor to lead the newsrooms of the Capital Journal community newspaper in the capital city of Pierre, South Dakota. The Capital Journal is published twice weekly in print and seven days a week online and serves Hughes and Stanley County communities. The CJ is a great place to work and has a great team in place, we like to have fun and all that is missing is you. This is the perfect “next step” for a strong reporter ready to lead a team or a seasoned editor who wants to focus on creating quality content for the community. . You could be covering a dog parade in the morning and talking to the governor that afternoon — community news at its finest. Journalism experience is required. Experience with social media management, photography, and/or website management are all pluses. The job is as challenging as it is rewarding. The editor writes, edits, works with our pagination team, and is often the face of the paper to the community. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to improve the operation, which just brought on new reporters who need a great leader. In addition to our legacy print products, we have a strong digital presence — that includes social media, email newsletters, a mobile app, and our flagship website: capjournal.com.
