Colorado Oil & Gas Reporter

New Posted 21 November 2022 | Denver, CO | Capital & Main

Capital & Main, an award-winning nonprofit publication, is seeking a Colorado-based reporter for The Slick, an ongoing investigative reporting project examining the oil and gas industry’s powerful influence on politics, policy, frontline communities and climate change. We report from some of the largest fossil fuel producing states in the nation, including California, New Mexico, Pennsylvania and Texas, and now we’re expanding to Colorado. The Colorado-based reporter will join Capital & Main's team of veteran climate journalists in investigating the outsized and often hidden role of petroleum companies in shaping climate policy — and how this influence impacts people and the planet. The position will begin as a 6-month part-time freelance role starting in January 2023 or sooner, and has the potential to be extended indefinitely. The reporter will produce approximately 10 stories over 6 months, ranging from short news articles to longer investigative projects. Vigorous reporting practices and standards will be expected, guided by Capital & Main’s editors.
