The Chicago Tribune is seeking an energetic, creative and talented photojournalist to join our award-winning staff and cover a diverse and dynamic city. We’re seeking a photographer with a minimum of 2 years of experience with a passion to tell the stories of those we cover, and can thrive as part of a team. The position will concentrate on still photography but video expertise is a plus. We expect creative, relevant storytelling in a fast-paced, digital-first environment. You’ll cover the news of the city and region, from breaking news to politics, food, sports and long-term enterprise stories. Staff photojournalists are encouraged to generate story ideas with strong news value. All candidates must have excellent news judgment, the highest of ethics in journalism, the ability to cover a wide range of events, and be able write effective and clear captions with context and depth. Proficiency with Photoshop, Premiere, Photo Mechanic and other photo and video editing software is expected. Candidates must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance. Equipment is provided. This position may involve working nights/weekends and/or holidays. Some travel may be required.
