Are you an experienced newsroom leader seeking a new challenge? The Jersey Journal is seeking a City Editor to help lead a team of four reporters and photographers in telling the story of one of New Jersey’s most diverse communities. This is a terrific opportunity for someone who would like to be on the front lines in a high-visibility setting. Working in collaboration with the Editor and Managing Editor, the City Editor is responsible for conceiving, developing, curating, and directing the presentation of local content across all The Journal’s platforms. The City Editor seamlessly shifts between multiple roles as needed to produce the strongest possible news report for both The Journal’s print edition and its digital affiliate, NJ.com. Although core responsibilities involve managing reporters, photographers, and designers as they create and format content, the City Editor will occasionally step in to research and write stories, create posts for social media, and design and layout pages.
