SUMMARY: The Ledger-Enquirer is seeking a Video Intern to support its multimedia coverage. The Video Intern will help plan, prepare and execute our content curation that produces the digital stories that align with our values.
This position will report to the Senior Visual Journalist, and would be exposed to various opportunities including professional growth, portfolio-building, networking and mentorship. In this role, you must be a self-starter and an excellent collaborator. The internship is ideal for anyone who is obsessed with storytelling, people and the communities they live in.
A strong candidate will have high energy – someone who loves to be out and about, meeting people – a mix of creative video, editorial, design and script-writing skills, and be highly willing to support the newsroom in whatever task at hand.
The Video Intern is also responsible for finding ways to repackage content for a digital, social media audience. We consistently publish online, deliver multiple weekly products and meet daily.
Candidates should be flexible, extremely adaptable, driven and ambitious, willing to pitch and try new things – and pivot when necessary.

REQUIREMENTS:
Basic, working knowledge of video editing software.
Basic knowledge of how to use a camcorder and or a DSLR for video.
Basic knowledge of lighting techniques.
Proven experience as a production intern/assistant is preferable.
Must be able to manage time, resources, and projects for fast turnaround deadlines with efficiency.
Organizational experience, multitasking skills, and ability to juggle multiple projects/tasks at once.
Must be able to take orders from supervisor in an effort to support the newsroom.
Attention to detail and willingness to be open and creative.
You are well-versed in copyright law and fully understand why that’s so important.
You know the difference between journalism and promotion and excel at both.
Willingness to wear multiple hats and complete different tasks assigned by the Senior Visual Journalist.
Be willing and able to travel throughout the Columbus area.
Social media background is helpful – an understanding of what resonates with youths in the Columbus community.
DUTIES:
Source and coordinate with Senior Visual Journalists to produce stories and collect content.
Participate in and attend weekly team meetings for brainstorms with content strategy and storyboards.
Report to the Senior Visual Journalist on your weekly content creation progress and status.
Assist with post-production editing.
Curate, format and repurpose content for digital use, especially in social media.
