Communications Specialist

New Posted 20 October 2023 | Birmingham, England, United Kingdom | BT Group

Networks drives a leading-edge technology strategy to underpin transformation and growth through our Business and Consumer customer facing units. We have around 7,500 colleagues in the unit, with engineering at its heart.

The Network Services (NS) team is the largest team in Networks which brings together the design, delivery and operations teams. NS plays a significant role in building, monitoring and maintaining the infrastructure that keeps the UK running, whether on broadband or mobile, copper or 5G. We keep people entertained by enabling TV services, help save lives by keeping the 999 service up and running, and we keep the UK functioning, supporting key national infrastructure with our office and field based teams.

We need to build the sense of pride and confidence in the future of Networks and BT Group among our c6,600 Network Services team, inspiring them to become a community of advocates for our strategy. And that’s where you come in.

What You’ll Be Doing

Develop and maintain a network of internal contacts to share information and gain maximum support, engagement and awareness for NS activities throughout the business.
Advise senior stakeholders in NS helping them communicate - within their teams and to the wider organisation.
Own and deliver engaging content for NS colleagues so that business achievements, key milestones and success are celebrated, creating a sense of positive momentum for the business.
Create/advise on the content and collateral (for example, message packs or scripts) for leaders to help equip them to engage and lead their teams.
Highlight and reinforce great stories from within the NS teams so that our people can see the difference they’re making and have confidence that this is a brilliant place to be.
Support the Internal Comms Manager on change projects.
Create and deliver timely content on our internal channels.
Be a brand custodian across internal comms channels for the teams you support.
Use data, insight and sentiment to improve and inform future internal comms activity. Monitor our NS Workplace, our internal social channel, creating insight to understand sentiment, trends and communication gaps.
Develop resources and use insight to coach NS leaders in the use of our channels.
Be a full part of the Networks internal comms team, with a dedicated focus on supporting our NS leaders and teams.

The Skills you'll need

Good experience of working in internal communications, ideally with a diverse and disparate audience base.
Evidence of creating and driving an internal communications plan that engages and inspires your audience, especially at a time of business change.
Solid communications planning skills and able to juggle a number of activities at the same time, often at pace.
