We are locally owned and passionate about informing, connecting, and inspiring the people of Greenville, SC. We are currently looking for a skilled managing editor for Community Journals.
The managing editor is responsible for the daily, weekly, and monthly coordination, content planning and production across multiple Community Journals publications. This includes, but is not limited to:
Serves as managing editor for atHome magazine.
Facilitates and participates in planning and coordination of daily, weekly, and monthly content across multiple publications.
Assists with TOWN magazine.
Assists in a “best practices” approach of ensuring use of technology and processes are efficient and maximized across multiple publications and brands.
Organizes and assigns stories to writers.
Handles all branded content assignments to writers, coordination, and editing.
Occasionally writes stories and/or briefs for online and print.
Manages digital newsletters across multiple publications working with digital team, editors and visual/graphics resources.
Editing in WordPress and on final PDFs.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, writing, or related field. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
At least three years’ experience at a lifestyle brand or publication and working with a creative team preferred.
Knowledge of Chicago Style and AP editing and media ethics.
An understanding of digital journalism and developments in digital storytelling; knowledge of SEO.
The ability to identify stories and approaches to writing that will drive growth in website traffic.
Experience with WordPress, MailChimp, social media and Slack is desired.
Must be local to Greenville, South Carolina.
