Compose.ly has partnered as an exclusive recruiter with the IT division of a major US university seeking a writer with news writing experience to work alongside their in-house team in a part-time capacity.

Our client is looking to hire a writer for 20 hours/week for 6 months, with a possibility of extension, to work alongside their in-house team, to provide additional writing support.

Our client needs a news writer with storytelling marketing experience, including interviewing, with a focus on digital equity and AI.

This role is for you if you…

Have storytelling marketing/news writing experience.
Have social media marketing experience.
Have experience conducting interviews with relevant interviewees from the fields of IT and AI.
Know when collaboration is necessary and when independent work should suffice.
Have strong organizational and time-management skills.
Can communicate and collaborate professionally and efficiently within a remote environment.

Responsibilities

Working on projects including news writing, development of full-length feature articles, video scripts, and social media posts.
Hosting interviews with interviewees assigned by the content manager, who will also provide the story assignment (topic, angle, main message).

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher
News writing experience
Familiarity with the ins and outs of digital equity and AI
Proficiency in written English (US spelling and grammar conventions)
Successful completion of our grammar, spelling, and writing assessments
