The Buckley School, Los Angeles’ oldest K-12 all-gender learning institution, has an opening for a Content Creator. The Content Creator works in Buckley’s Communications Office to generate content for Buckley’s print and digital channels — as a writer, reporter, photographer, and graphic designer. Working closely with the Digital Content Manager and reporting to the Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications, the Content Creator is the creative soul of the Communications Office, seeking out stories about the Buckley community and telling them verbally and visually in a modern, equitable, dynamic, and inspiring way.

The Communications Office at Buckley works in collaboration with the Advancement and Admission Offices to promote hospitality, clear and accurate information, a vision for equity, and community pride.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Creates daily content for Buckley’s social media channels, website, emails, and print materials, generating and managing posts across several platforms.

This includes:

Taking pictures and video on or off campus, of Buckley-related events or members of the Buckley community.
Working with an outside photographer or videographer to capture needed content.
Writing news articles, captions, magazine content, or any other materials for the above media channels and for internal newsletters, the Good News Alert and The Week Ahead.
Designing social media posts, graphics, slide presentations, invitations, posters, flyers, etc. as needed.
Managing and refreshing content on various TVs around campus.
Understanding how to use Buckley’s assets (color palette, fonts, logos, and style guide) according to best practices in design, marketing, and brand development.
Acting as the editor-in-chief of Buckley’s annual alumni magazine Community, working with an outside graphic designer and with administrators on campus to gather material

Works with the Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications on social media content and timing in order to achieve admission, advancement, and community goals.
Works with the Digital Content Manager and Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications to align web, print, social media, and word-of-mouth marketing.
Along with the Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications and the Digital Content Manager, facilitates the student communications internship, including helping to organize weekly meetings and working with students to create content for Buckley's social media platforms.

Works with various clubs, leaders, and community groups (e.g., community service, Parents’ Association, varsity teams, Diversity Club) to gather, assess, edit, and strategically promote their news and content across platforms.
Works alongside the Digital Content Manager and Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications as an integral part of the Communications Office, participating in and sometimes leading larger projects such as website design, marketing videos, and schoolwide or community events.
Organizes and manages the school’s online photo archive.
Attends on and off-campus events as a reporter, photographer, and representative of the school.
Is willing and available to work during evenings and weekends when needed.
Is willing and able to report to work on campus.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Possess the minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
Experience working at an independent school or college/university preferred.

COMPENSATION

$55,000 - $65,000 per year depending on experience
