Role Description

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Content Editor to join our dynamic editorial team. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the quality and direction of our content, working closely with the Managing Editor to drive success across our network of sites. If you have a passion for editorial excellence and a proven track record in the commerce content industry, we'd love to hear from you.

The ideal candidate also should have, on hand, a list of trusted and qualified freelance or part-time copywriters, to expedite quality content creation. Furthermore and more importantly, they will ensure that all content pieces are of the highest written quality, and also follow Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices and conform to Google’s User Experience Guidelines.

This is a remote role with an option to travel to the Winnipeg, Manitoba office if desired.

Responsibilities

3+ years in an editorial role in the industry
Excellent ability in copywriting and editing
Supporting the management of 20+ websites and 3,500 commerce content pages, optimizing for organic search best practices to drive revenue growth
Strong time management skills with the ability to assist in guiding team direction
Contributing to the enforcement of key editorial processes, including maintaining schedules for coverage, assignment of work, adherence to the internal writer's guide, and quality control
Editing incoming content before it goes live on our network
Assisting in auditing content across our portfolio of sites to ensure accuracy and up-to-dateness
Writing and updating well-researched commerce content in line with current shopping trends
Collaborating in managing incoming and outgoing content orders from 3rd party writing services
Creating engaging content that fosters audience growth, encourages engagement from existing visitors, and boosts conversion rates
Collaborating with a team of writers and editors to produce high-quality content
Upholding stringent ethical and reporting standards in line with industry best practices
Assisting in the adherence to the editorial style guide and best practices
Applying current SEO best practices within the scope of editorial strategy
Collaborating with in-house writers to develop and refine editorial strategies
Monitoring and reporting content performance against team and individual goals
Industry knowledge in commerce content will be considered a strong asset

Qualifications

3-5 years experience in an editorial role, with a preference for those with management experience
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
Proficiency in shopping and commerce content, with 3+ years of experience in covering consumer products
Ability to juggle multiple projects effectively
A positive team member with strong people skills and a proactive attitude
Excellent collaborative abilities with a history of successful cross-team cooperation
Solid writing, editing, and reporting skills
Experience in planning and launching significant projects or new verticals
A deep understanding of SEO and affiliate/commerce content strategy
A willingness to innovate and experiment editorially to contribute to the growth of our network
