Upworthy.com is looking for a copyeditor to help in our efforts to bring our unique brand of storytelling to a growing audience of millions of daily readers. Upworthy is a website and social media platform focused on bringing the “best of humanity” to our sizable audience; one of the most widely engaged across platforms including Facebook, Instagram and Google News. The primary responsibility of a successful candidate will be to copy edit original daily content coming from our team of writers. Additionally, the person in this role will assist with light fact-checking and maintaining the standards and style guide as outlined by our company brand and Editor-in-Chief. The position is remote, starting at 20+ hours a week with the expectation of availability during agreed upon business hours (Pacific Standard Time). There is the opportunity for the position to become full-time/40 hours a week and a staffed position after a trial/freelance period. The successful candidate will have excellent time-management skills, be detail-oriented, highly organized and possess the ability to meet tight deadlines. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience editing or writing for news publications.
