The Casper Star-Tribune, Wyoming’s statewide newspaper, is seeking a crime and breaking news reporter who’s curious, analytical and accurate to join our talented team. You will be at the helm of our crime coverage. This means writing the article that gives readers details on the big ruling of the day as well as the watchdog piece that helps them understand the societal effects of the criminal justice system. Investigative skills and a dogged determination to get the story will set you apart. We’re also looking for someone who’s ready to cover wildfires, crazy weather and anything else the Cowboy State throws your way. Wyoming produces a steady diet of breaking news, and you’ll be tasked with covering it, whether in Casper or around the state. The ideal candidate will have excellent time management and organizational skills, including the ability to work under deadline pressure while managing multiple responsibilities. Flexibility is critical. We want someone who is passionate about their beat but can drop everything when an urgent story breaks. We take pride in being our state’s top newspaper. We’ve been named the best daily in Wyoming for six of the last eight years, and we routinely break the state’s biggest stories. Our reporters regularly take home awards at state, regional and national competitions, and we have a reputation for developing journalists, many of whom have gone on to major publications.
