We are looking for a News Reporter to join us at Express Online concentrating on US content, this is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital role in our newsroom. You will have a strong and proven track record in journalism producing exclusives for national papers.

Reach Plc is the UK’s largest commercial news publisher. We’re home to more than 130 trusted brands, from national titles like the Mirror, Express, Daily Record and Daily Star, to local brands like MyLondon, BelfastLive and the Manchester Evening News.

Since the start of 2023, we have been building out our US operation, headquartered at 200 Liberty St, New York. We’ve launched three standalone brands in the Mirror US, Express US and the Irish Star, covering news, sport, entertainment, politics and lifestyle - all targeted at US audiences.

We’re now entering a period of rapid growth, and are looking to add ambitious and dynamic talent to our teams.

Job Description

What will the role involve?

You will write and develop stories, with great pictures and engaging video. You will deliver a fast turnaround on major news stories across the US and around the world and bring in exclusive stories that set us apart from our rivals. All while ensuring that every piece of content is researched and published in accordance with the Editor’s Code of practice.

Shift Patterns

Rotas are completed approximately a month in advance to help ensure a seamless working pattern and time to prepare. Shift patterns for this role are as follows:

Early Shift : 7:00am - 3:00pm EST
Late Shift : 3:00pm - 11:00pm EST

Typically, these shifts run on 1 week of early shifts followed by 1 week of late shifts.

1 weekend shift per month is also required, this can be either an early or late shift and will be decided with your line manager (you will also receive 2 days back in lieu).
Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

An experienced reporter with in-depth knowledge of media law, you have a strong track record of delivering a wide range of engaging human interest and hard hitting news stories at a national or major regional title while understanding what works for a digital audience.

You have first rate editing, writing and subbing skills, relish the test of working under pressure and to tight deadlines. You’re social media savvy with current SEO knowledge and ideally you're familiar with newsroom analytics and content management systems. You’re flexible, inquisitive and are on the pulse of what makes a great story!
