The Daily Mail is seeking a senior producer to develop and produce a brilliant original series. You’ll serve in the role of showrunner, producing 8-22 minute episodes several times per month. The show will be targeted toward YouTube, with the goal of reaching the widest possible audience.
This is a new role on a new team that will create an original programming slate. We’re looking for entrepreneurial, driven producers who see this as an opportunity to do impactful, ambitious, and high-quality work.
The senior producer reports to the head of shows.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and run an original show that’s primarily designed to work on YouTube.
Oversee every stage of the production process: from vetting pitches, to developing episode ideas, to planning shoots, to giving notes on rough cuts, to choosing headlines and thumbnails.
Manage a small team of producer/editors that, along with you, make up the show team.
Take an analytical approach to show performance, using data to understand which parts of the show are working and which aren’t.
Required Skills and Qualities:
Experience producing, editing, or shooting long-form videos.
A deep curiosity about YouTube as a platform.
A world-class story sense and ability to assess pitches.
An ability to clearly communicate and give detailed, specific feedback.
A lack of fear of failure and a willingness to pivot when an idea doesn’t work out as planned.
A deep understanding of the principles of good journalism.
If you are passionate about creating videos that inform, engage, and grow audiences, and you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, we would like to hear from you. Please submit your resume, cover letter, and a portfolio of your work.
