Dallas Free Press, a nonprofit news site, launched in January 2020 with the mission of amplifying voices and exploring solutions to the city’s systemic inequities. It focuses community journalism efforts on three zip codes in South Dallas and West Dallas, which are predominantly Black and Latino neighborhoods, respectively.

The images of our communities that appear in local news media are mostly of crime and blight, which doesn't at all reflect their beauty and assets. This visual journalist sees neighbors and captures community and civic life in all of its facets. The journalist is a multimedia reporter with a photographic eye, who has the skills to meld images, video and audio for storytelling, and the desire to reach under-covered audiences.
Salary and Benefits:
$40,000-$50,000
5 personal days, 5 sick days, 17 vacation days (office shuts down for 3+ weeks of the year), health insurance stipend or equivalent support, and technology stipend or equivalent support.
