Dexerto are looking for a TV and Movies Writer to deliver news, features, reviews and recaps on the biggest films and television shows. This is a full-time job that will require you to work at the weekends. Also, whilst you will be working remotely, the ideal candidate will be from London or the surrounding areas so that they may attending screenings and junkets.
This is a position for a passionate writer who can help grow our TV and Movies coverage. Some experience of writing about the subject matter for a publication is desirable as you will be the main TV and Movies writer working at the weekends, so you will be expected to source compelling news stories, come up with new ideas for features and explain the latest trends.
The right candidate will know everything there is to know about the biggest trending TV shows and movies, whether that be superhero movies such as The Flash and The Marvels, action blockbusters including Mission Impossible, or big new television events like Secret Wars or The Witcher. Having said that, if you have specialist knowledge of other areas within TV and Movies that would be of interest to our audience and will help us grow, we want to hear about them.
You will stay on top of the latest news and trends in order to produce daily content for the site, and you will also be able to plan and write features, interviews, reviews and recaps. You will also be expected to sub copy,
Good SEO knowledge is desirable whilst having some contacts within the TV and Movie industry will be advantageous. Social media expertise is also desirable as you may be expected to suggest ideas for ScreenTime our TV and Movies Twitter account.
Requirements
Understanding and knowledge of TV and Movies
Great news and feature writing skills
SEO knowledge desirable
Good organisation and time management skills
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent attention to detail – able to spot grammatical errors and formatting mistakes
Great communication skills – able to take instruction and keep various members of the team updated on progress
Own computing equipment that can run Photoshop or similar programs
Able to work full-time hours (40) without other education or job commitments
Experience with content management systems, and photo editing skills
