Job Description
Position Summary
The Science & Medicine Department is responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the healthcare content created by Digitas Health. The Copy Editing team reviews copy that can pass the rigorous scrutiny of our clients’ medical-legal committees, and the FDA. Copy is reviewed for accuracy regarding medical and science accuracy and spelling, grammar, and adherence to brand style guides. Science and Medicine works with other capabilities to ensure that medical information is correctly conveyed within the creative execution. The Copy Editor will report directly to a Senior Copy Editor.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with Creative team to create scientific and healthcare communications that use correct grammar and spelling, are consistent, and scientifically accurate
Perform copy editing, formatting, and proofreading of scientific and pharmaceutical manuscripts, including banners, emails, websites and other materials for direct to consumer and healthcare professionals
Create style guides relevant for specific brands
Ensure adherence to AMA and client and brand style guidelines
Work with project managers and copywriters and other members of the cross-capability team
Attend kickoff and daily progress meetings
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
· Bachelor’s degree in English, healthcare, communication, or science degree
· ELS certification preferred
· 1-3 years of experience in copy editing
· Facility with pharmaceutical marketing formats
· Familiarity with pharmaceutical marketing
· Knowledge of AMA style guide
· Can work both independently and in a team environment
· Must know how to use Microsoft Word. Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, PowerPoint) desirable
· Familiarity with Workfront Proof desirable
· Willingness to learn new software as applicable
