Executive Editor, Agronomy, Successful Farming

This position provides multi-platform editorial coverage, insights, and project leadership of topics related to agronomy, including planting, growing, and harvesting of corn, soybeans, and wheat. This role is the magazine’s lead contact and liaison to the seed and crop protection industry and key agri-marketing leaders.

Essential Job Functions | Weight % Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results

60% Writes, edits, and produces an editorial plan that includes articles, video, and social content for Successful Farming and Agriculture.com.
20% Help create, plan, and execute major multimedia projects that may include partners and marketers.
10% Manage the assistant agronomy editor and provide editorial guidance for the agronomy team’s coverage.
10% Build relationships with and visit crop industry experts and leaders, including key agri-marketing decision makers and Extension and university scientists.

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, or similar fields or equivalent experience.

Experience:
At least 5 years in agricultural communication. Agronomy knowledge is important. Must have editorial planning and writing experience. Some experience using digital content tools and digital publishing systems is helpful.

Must work independently to deliver stories, but also work within an editorial team setting. Must be detail oriented. Must also spot trends for farmers to distinguish our coverage.

Pay Range
Salary: $77,000 - $110,000
