E&E News is hiring an international climate reporter. The ideal candidate is a sharp writer who can identify clean energy and climate trends around the world. Nimbleness and organization is required; you might write about cars in China one day and climate-fueled disasters the next. This beat calls for an authoritative reporter who can thrive in an avalanche of news. The world is a big place and it’s your job to pitch compelling and relevant stories. Responsibilities: You will write daily news items while working on big-picture stories about climate policy in foreign cities and countries. You will ascertain how U.S. policies affect other nations and dig for scoops related to American investments in fossil fuels and climate mitigation, for example. You will identify pitfalls in global plans to decarbonize, such as Indonesia’s explosive use of coal. Features and profiles are part of the job. You will be expected to develop sources in the State Department, the U.N., and foreign capitals. Be prepared to travel. The reporter will contribute to Climatewire and other publications at E&E News.
