The Editor works within the brand teams to produce content for Modern Counsel and American Healthcare Leader. They will play a key role in managing brand voice, editorial structure, content diversification and strategy, and SEO best practices, while adhering to Guerrero’s editing standards, production efficiency, and client satisfaction protocol.
They will report to the Editorial Director, and work closely with other editors, staff writers, designers, and photo editors in the creative production department.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Collaborates with fellow editors, photo editors, and designers to create effective products
Owns key steps in the direct sales feature production process: feature angles, developmental editing, and fact-check editing
Executes on digital strategy to produce B2B content that drives site traffic and reaches new audiences
Assigns features to staff or freelance writers and manages freelancer deadlines and draft
Expands digital reach of online content using SEO best practices and standards
Leverages new technologies, such as AI, to enhance editorial processes and explore new ways to create valuable content
Edits each feature according to as Chicago Manual of Style and in-house style guide with a “zero errors” mindset
Meets all publication and project deadlines, macro and micro
Utilizes assigned company software such as FileMaker, Asana, and Outlook to manage workload and ensure process adherence
Actively engages with other members of the company to continuously strive to improve processes, create efficiencies, and reduce cost
Complies with established company work rules, policies, and procedures
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field
At least two years of editorial experience at a publication, media company, or within an editorial/creative department
A demonstrated ability to generate creative ideas in environment of aggressive growth
Foundational knowledge of SEO standards and best practices
Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style
Excellent editing skills
