The Paulding Neighbor, a longstanding weekly print newspaper and 24/7 online website, is looking for an editor to manage all operations of the publication in Paulding County.
We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about journalism and understands the vital role and impact a media outlet has on its community.
The editor will:
– monitor and report the news of the community.
– plan content for each weekly print edition.
– direct the consolidated copy desk in assembling each print edition.
– populate the website on a frequent and consistent basis.
– attend and report on appropriate government meetings, school activities and community events.
– report and post breaking news online quickly – severe weather, major accidents, serious crimes
– recruit and work with freelance writers and photographers within a set freelance budget.
– cover and/or assign high school sports activities and feature stories.
– identify and process newsworthy press releases.
– work with the digital team in disseminating news on social media platforms.
– serve and be recognized as the publication’s contact person in the community for readers, sources and advertisers.
– assist advertising sales reps by providing leads for potential customers.
The Paulding Neighbor is operated by the Times-Journal Media Group, a company of 20 newspaper, magazine and online media outlets in Georgia.
While this is a one-person operation, the position works with and is part of the larger Times-Journal news-gathering staff that offers support and resources.
