We are looking for an editor to turbo-charge the market-leading letsrecycle.com publication and conference brand.

Part of ROARB2B – letsrecycle.com has been the UK’s leading environmental news service for more than 20 years, reporting on UK and European environmental policymaking as it happens for a national and international audience of policymakers, influencers and industrial regulatory and sustainability managers.

Reporting to the environment managing director, the successful candidate will be an experienced journalist, with first-class writing abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to spot the stories that matter most to our audience's working lives.

You will be expected to write news, as well as longer pieces, such as interviews, features, and analysis. You will be responsible for bringing in scoops, writing exclusives and making a name for yourself in the sector.

In addition, you will support in planning, coordinating and delivering the title's news content, as well as preparing our flagship daily/weekly news bulletin and a monthly pricing index.

An understanding of environmental issues or a proven interest in the area is desirable but is not as important to the role as curiosity and a willingness to become knowledgeable about the subject matter.

Responsibilities

write news and longer-form pieces such as analysis, interviews and features.
planning, coordinating and delivering the title's news content, deputising where required.
preparing the title’s flagship daily/weekly news bulletin.
prepare deliver and update monthly pricing index
general upkeep of the website, making sure sections are updated, and that the positioning of content reflects the findings of audience engagement insights.
Work closely with the conference team in the creation of high-level speaker and content programmes
Open/chair all relevant events across the year, as and when required
lead on social media.
travel for site visits, trade shows, conferences and other events to represent the brand, build industry contacts and manage relationships with industry.

Qualifications

Person specification:

First-class writing skills.
Excellent commissioning and copy-editing skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage workflow and deadlines and ensure quality and timeliness of copy.
Good understanding of media law.
An analytical mind - the ability to process audience engagement data, understand it and know how to apply it
Experience with analytics tools (Google Analytics, social media monitoring tools, etc.).
An interest in and experience in data journalism and infographics.
Persistence and energy - monitoring and improving systems once they are set up.
Clear and effective communication skills.
