Industry Update Magazine is Australia’s market leading manufacturing publication and is about to start our 30th year of publishing.

After an incredible and successful two years of growth since the pandemic, Industry Update Magazine is seeking a new editor to take the publication into a new era and to new audiences to complement our existing market leading readership.

About the Role

We're in search of an experienced and organised Journalist/Editor to join our team on a full-time basis, overseeing the production of our magazine.
The successful applicant will join a small writing and sub-editing team, working across interesting and innovative stories in manufacturing, one of the most dynamic sectors of Australian industry.

Write engaging stories about manufacturing news and others including case studies, video scripts and editing product stories.
Source compelling photos for stories and ensure thorough documentation and updates on relevant spreadsheets.
Review and amend articles for accuracy and quality.
Write editorial columns
Edit and proofread articles to maintain accuracy and uphold editorial standards.
Develop persuasive copy for advertisements and other marketing materials.
Collaborate effectively with a small team comprising designers, ad sales representatives, marketing professionals, and fellow writers.

About You

Along with a strong work ethic, you'll need to understand the importance of meeting clients, contacting them, and building a good professional rapport with them.

You'll have:

Competent journalistic writing skills
Previous experience, preferably in a trade magazine or similar publication.
Formal education in journalism or communications.
Full Australian working rights or permanent residency.
Proficient editing skills.
Familiarity with journalistic ethics and standards.
Exceptional communication for conducting interviews.
