The Editor works with the Publisher to develop a strategy that ensures the seven-day news product is meeting the needs of our growing central Florida community, both in print and digital.
Essential Functions :
Develop and implement newsroom wide goals including digital publishing daily on site and social media network.
Responsible for facilitating selected daily/weekly news meetings, ensuring staff is assigned to all major daily stories.
Makes decisions on anonymous sources, questionable language, spending and other similar issues.
Shares with Publisher as the voice of the community at large.
Has general knowledge of the newsroom budget; assists Publisher in resource allocation decisions.
Coaches and works regularly with reporters and has a deep understanding of what stories each is pursuing and that all elements, including photography and digital plans, are considered.
Monitors analytics to ensure story choices are resonating with readers
Writes and edits stories for context, organization, clarity, length and style.
Ensures that all articles are posted online and consistently works with team on social media posts, digital newsletter, to create content engagement.
