Endpoints is hiring a deputy editor for events and special projects to lead the editorial side of our growing events business and work closely with our newsroom to expand the reach and impact of our special reports.
This is a job for an entrepreneurial journalist who wants to use the power of events and non-written forms of media to empower the newsroom, highlight our biggest stories, and bring our subscribers closer to the topics and people they’re interested in. While you don’t have to be a grizzled veteran on camera or stage, you should want to be a public face for Endpoints as well as working across our newsroom to help other stars shine brighter.
In this role, you will:
Work closely with the executive editor and the rest of the Endpoints newsroom to develop panel and interview ideas, themes for in-person and virtual events, and targets for major interviews at events
Help diversify the faces and voices at our events, both from our newsroom and from the interview guests and panel speakers we invite
Take an entrepreneurial view on new events and newsroom projects, and use them to expand the reach of our already great journalism
Work with our journalists to raise the profile and expand the reach of our special reports, including our annual Women in Bio, LGBTQ+ leaders, and 20 Under 40 lists
Moderate and host virtual and live events throughout the year
Collaborate closely with our event ops team on development and execution
This position reports to the executive editor. You should have 10+ years of experience in journalism, including running short- and long-term projects, working across a newsroom developing ideas, speaking at and sourcing speakers for events, and a strong background in biopharmaceutical or healthcare coverage. The top candidates will be as excited about being on stage or screen as they are about helping others in the newsroom grow their profiles.
